How Method Grid built capability in NHS Trust’s Capital Project and Estate’s Programme Management Office (PMO)

Discover how our team unified North Bristol NHS Trust’s cross-project visibility and instil best practice methodologies.

The user

The situation the North Bristol NHS Trust was facing was highly typical for organisations with a high number of departments, multi-site and multi-location estates, and complex operations.

The challenge

There was no common project management methodology or control documentation/process within the PMO and, as such, team members were applied idiosyncratically to tasks.

This resulted in a lack of consistency when it came to quality and processes. Without clear methodologies in place, timescales, expectations and deliverables were completely unrealistic.

Not only did this have a knock-on effect on the team, but overall, it affected project delivery and assurance throughout the organisation.

How Method Grid was used

“Through the work that we have done with Provelio and Method Grid our capital project delivery is clearer, more controlled and more predictable. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future.”

Working with Provelio, we developed a project management delivery system that represented best practice for this form of control oversight, providing pertinent information based on the project lifecycle.

This was designed to support better budget, time, risk, and quality management.

The system was embedded within the cloud-based Method Grid platform to support remote, de-centralised teams. Integrating knowledge, task, quality and delivery management, it gives the trust the ability to control actual project delivery for each individual project.

The benefits

Method Grid’s solution has enabled a single source of truth view of their project portfolio.

Common understanding: The team now fully understand the timescales and processes for delivering a project in the wider NHS infrastructure.

Information visibility: The standard repository has given users a place to store and share documentation, helping continue best practice, learned improvement, project monitoring, and knowledge sharing.

Staff development: The system also provides the foundational training resource for the professional development of existing and new staff.

Connected assurance: Method Grid has supported and improved quality, collaboration and communication for remote and mixed project teams. This enables better assurance across activity and project stages.
